a dull draw

despite 17 shots on goal, liverpool couldn’t break the deadlock and ended their away trip to manchester city in a dull 0-0 draw. the reds fielded a good first team that dominated for most of the game. however, man city’s defense were playing well and denied liverpool numerous times. the reds pushed forward but really lacked sting, looking very boring in attack. man city played deep and left liverpool little room in the box to find space or score.

the last thing liverpool needs now is to drop points, especially when man united lose to bolton. it would have been a wonderful opportunity to bridge the gap. the reds are developing a habit of playing mediocre football against mediocre teams.

liverpool stay in the top 4, but are now ten points behind league leaders arsenal. however, we still have a game in hand to reduce that margin. liverpool’s easy run continues all through january, with games against wigan, luton (fa cup), middlesbro, villa, west ham and sunderland. maximum points should ensure a good charge at the leaders.
