travel diary — day 220

day 216 — we washed craig’s car and did some shopping. we visited megan and while we chatted i rearranged her massive cd collection. it was fun because we kept giving her shit about her choices in music.

in the afternoon we drove to the cake shop to pick up the cakes for the wedding, followed by dinner, xbox and sleep.

day 217 — craig and inyoung’s wedding day. we got up early and washed the wedding car which was on loan from a family friend. craig and i went to megan’s house to get ready for the wedding. we then drove down to ‘brighton house’ which is where the wedding would take place.

i was photographer for the day and walked around getting some shots. i took photos during the wedding … which was a really nice garden ceremony … and got some more photos afterwards. i had the bride and groom pose and we did some wedding portraiture. the whole day was really nice and i was very proud to be there as part of the wedding.

day 218 — craig and inyoung headed to the gold coast, taking inyoung’s family with them, for a small holiday. i stayed in ipswich and spent my time relaxing. i didn’t have internet, so i was reduced to drinking beer and watching the nrl grand final. lol

day 219 — in the morning i finished packing a small bag of stuff and jumped on the train to the city. i got off at roma street and headed upstairs to the intercity bus terminal. i managed to get an afternoon bus to sydney but had to wait about two hours for departure.

having done my fair share of long haul bus rides, i always hate going long distance by bus. but the trip wasn’t too bad — at least the bus didn’t stop all the time and there was a toilet on board. i managed to get a little bit of sleep.

day 220 — i arrived in sydney sore and tired from the bus trip. i checked into a hostel and was incredibly annoyed at the cost of hostels. it was the same kind of price i’d paid in tokyo … i definitely hadn’t expected to pay so much in australia. having been back in oz for a few days, i was starting to get an understanding of how expensive australia had become.

i dumped my gear in my dorm and took off down george street towards sydney harbour. it was still early in the day, so i figured i should make the most of it. i walked along the harbour bridge and then down around circular quay to the opera house. i took a lot of photos and started walking back. on the way i had a pie and beer (which was fantastic).

i was pretty tired from the bus trip, so i had a short nap in the hostel, then went and checked email. i had a small meal and was still tired, so i headed back to bed for the night.
